Drivers on West Kellogg may be in for a surprise over the next several weeks as the Kellogg Expansion Project continues. Vehicle traffic on Kellogg between Mid-Continent Road and 111th Street West will be shifted starting late next week, according to Sgt. Jerry Quick, Wichita Police Department.
The intersections of Kellogg and Tyler, and Kellogg and Maize, will be shut down for a brief period of time for a signal light change over, and when the intersections reopen, all westbound traffic on Kellogg will be shifted to the north access road from Mid-Continent Road to 111th Street West. The speed limits for both east and westbound traffic in this area will be reduced to 35 miles per hour during the construction phase.
The Wichita Police Department will have the speed monitoring trailers deployed in this area to remind citizens about the change in the speed zones. However, in conjunction with public education, the Wichita Police Department will also have Officers patrolling the area and enforcing the construction zone speeds for the safety of motorists and construction workers.
“We highly encourage anyone who can, to take a different route such as Maple or Central, during this construction phase,” said Sgt. Quick.
