All of Central Riverside Park located east of Nims Street is closed for construction, including the streets that surround it. This part of the park includes the zoo area, the playground equipment area around the rocket ship, and the vast open areas normally used for picnics and recreation. Park Villa is also closed due to construction work in the surrounding area, and additional work will be happening in Oak Park a little later. All work will be completed by late fall.
People looking for picnic and recreation areas are directed to Sims Park. This beautiful area can be found by going west on Museum Drive, past Cow Town, and following the river to where the road dead-ends at a right turn into the Sims Park picnic and recreation area.
Citizens are asked not to remove the signs, fencing, and barricades prohibiting entrance into the park for their safety as well as for the safety of others.
