Visitors will be treated to nearly triple the number of butterflies that can usually be found at Botanica's Butterfly House when they stroll through the net-covered enclosure during the next few weeks.

Close to 800 adult butterflies arrived at Botanica this morning as a gift from Powell Gardens in Kingsville, MO. Powell Gardens hosts a butterfly event each summer that includes a temporary live butterfly exhibit. At the conclusion of this annual event, Powell Gardens generously donates the adult butterflies and chrysalides from the temporary exhibit to Botanica, the Wichita Gardens.

Botanica's Butterfly House is open from early June through late September. The 2,800 square foot net-covered outdoor enclosure allows visitors to walk among hundreds of free-flying butterflies and watch butterflies emerge at the butterfly-hatching exhibit. There is no additional fee to tour the Butterfly House. Regular admission to Botanica is $6 for adults, $5 for Seniors and $3 for Youth. A Family Rate of $12 is available for two parents and their children under 21.
