On behalf of the City of Wichita, thanks to the nearly 100 volunteers who came out to help during the first River Trash Round Up of the year. It was an enormous success! Here are totals according to Public Works, who took the trash to the transfer station and received accurate numbers from there:

141 bags of trash picked up along the River from Lincoln Street to north of Exploration Place.

1900 pounds of trash (nearly a ton!)

20 bags of recyclable materials
This was a fantastic way to celebrate Earth Day and get ready for our guests to arrive at the River Festival. Our next River Clean Up is scheduled for the last day of River Festival on May 19 - time to be determined.
