City of Wichita crews have restored water service to homes and an elementary school near 15th Street and Meridian.
A water main break lowered water pressure in the area Thursday afternoon after a City worker inadvertently punctured the pipe while completing a project.
After the water main was fixed late Thursday night, workers remained in the area until 4 AM today to put a temporary asphalt patch on the portion of street that collapsed. It had been weakened by the outflow of water.
15th Street is now open to both lanes of traffic while it awaits permanent repairs.
