The Mechanical Board provides technical code review and recommendations to the City Council on matters involving the Mechanical Codes; mechanical installations, construction & remodeling; and contractor licensing.

Primary focus/responsibilities of the Mechanical Board include:

1. reviewing mechanical codes and recommending to City Council proposed code adoptions or code changes;

2. hearing appeals to Office of Central Inspection interpretations of Mechanical Codes;

3. reviewing and approving/denying alternate heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration or boiler materials and/or methods of installation;

4. reviewing and applications for mechanical contractor licenses, and conducting hearings to consider probation, suspension or revocation of such licenses.

Board Members Information

The Mechanical Board is a City Council-appointed seven-member board consisting of a refrigeration contractor, a journeyman heating and air conditioning mechanic, a boiler contractor, a master air conditioning and warm air heating contractor, a journeyman boiler mechanic, a mechanical engineer, and a citizen at-large.

The Mechanical Board currently meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:00 AM on the 7th floor of City Hall in the Office of Central Inspection.
